Teatro
By Dario D´Ambrosi
“Plays such as the Pathological Theater should have the same dignity as a public service”.
Everybody is not Here (Tutti non ci sono) by Italian director, actor, and playwright Dario D'ambrosi, is an attempt to show how blurred the border between madness and normality is, questioning these concepts beyond common prejudices.
The show begins with the projection of a documentary filmed in New York by the Italian-American Gerard Saldó, which shows a psychiatric patient leaving the asylum, with an empty cage in his hand, wandering through the city. The patient walks through the streets encountering several characters who avoid him, until he arrives at the door of a theater. Thus, this show goes from video to stage action.
Inspired by Franco Basaglia's Law 180 (1978), where psychiatric patients are exposed to the city without any criteria, this play proposes the encounter between theater and mental illness to enrich both realities, giving them back their dignity.
