Sala 13

By Tomás Henríquez | Directed by Cristián Keim

  • Chile
  • Spanish
  • 90 minutes
  • Todo público

A play that pays tribute to the memory, milestones and characters that have marked the 80 years of the Teatro Nacional Chileno.

A group of civil servants begin to tidy up a former theater room that contains hundreds of archives, photographs and books documenting an important part of Chile's theatrical history. Along with the discovery of the materials, scenes of emblematic plays, iconic characters, anecdotes and errors of one of the country’s main theatres come to light. These stories make up the heart of Sala 13, a production that portrays different moments of Chile’s political and social history from the perspective of the Teatro Nacional Chileno (TNCH).

The play evokes memorable scenes from the repertoire of TNCH´s 80 years of trajectory and characterizes certain periods and moments. Sala 13 is also a reflection on memory, on the craft of theater and, in particular, on this company. A company whose origins lie within the Universidad de Chile.
