Mohamed El Khatib
Direction
Creator, director and visual artist, Mohamed El Khatib develops projects that move between performance, literature and film. Through intimate and social epics, he creates opportunities for encounters between art and those who are far from it.
After “Moi, Corinne Dadat,” a play in which he invited a cleaning worker and a ballet dancer to take stock of their skills, he continued his exploration of the working class with the monumental piece STADIUM, which brought 58 supporters of the Racing Club de Lens on stage. Then, with the children of divorced parents, she wondered about what the family can produce as a narrative.
Parallel to his stage projects, Mohamed El Khatib has developed plastic research in collaboration with several artists. In Savoy, with Valérie Mréjen, he initiated the creation of the first art center in Ehpad.
Zirlb
Company
Zirlib was founded in 2008 based on a simple premise: aesthetics is not devoid of political meaning. It is the result of a meeting between authors, actors, researchers, dancers, video makers and musicians from different backgrounds and trajectories.
Zirlb understands contemporary creation as an experience, a gesture where the most demanding aesthetic dimension can come face to face with everyday life.
Zirlb observes artistic practice as a place of consolation -because of the beauty of the gesture-, of emancipation -because of the radical nature of the message- and of hospitality.
By Mohamed El Khatib | Company Zirlib
French artist Mohamed El Khatib and the Zirlb company arrive at the Teatro a Mil 2025 Festival with a show that goes out to meet the elderly to address the audience with a reflection: is the end of life also the end of love?
In this show we will get to know the love stories of our elders or -less discreetly- our old men and women.
Facing aging means, on the one hand, confronting the social gaze and, on the other, observing one's own worn-out body, which day after day compromises one's autonomy. Very often, however, love remains. And even more so desire, which can be accompanied by a reinvented sexuality, as it no longer conforms to performance or social pressure, but develops its own rhythm, its own time, its own fragile but equally intense intimacy.
For this piece, director Mohamed El Khatib has gathered the opinions of elders from all walks of life to weave a story that reflects a wide range of love experiences.
