The story of the only unpunished rape of Olympus: that of Pérsefone, abducted by her uncle Hades.

In the middle of a dry field, we hear a voice that tells us a never-ending story: a young girl has disappeared, a desperate mother is looking for her. The actresses Marcela Salinas and Belén Herrera, along with the actor Héctor Morales, perform scenes that present the story of the only unpunished rape of Olympus: that of Persephone, daughter of Demeter and Zeus, kidnapped by her uncle Hades. Taking as a reference the Thesmophoria Festival (ancient Greece), the play is developed in front of an audience that, through headphones, listens to the voice that guides and narrates the story. A text written by Nicolás Lange that proposes dynamic, disruptive and political images, addressing issues related to gender violence and its origins.

Art inspired by everyday life

Paula is a performing artist trained as an actress and theater director at the University of Chile (2002). She holds a Master’s degree in Theatrical Performance at Dartington College of Arts, England (2007), and is dedicated to directing, acting, teaching, and theatrical dramaturgy, focusing on the notion of stage performativity. Since her beginning as a director in 2002, Paula has presented experimental stage works that integrate experiences associated with the observation of everyday life and the habits that arise from them. Her artistic interests are focused on generating contemporary strategies for creation and scenic formats. She also highlights the co-presence between artists and audience, appealing to the living dialogue between the artist, everyday life and the spectator.  The concepts through which she has worked are foreignness, home, notions of time, family, life cycles and the epistolary genre, among others.

-Because of its very interesting feminist approach to the Greek myth of Persephone: Zeus’ daughter and maiden, who is abducted by her uncle Hades and later becomes the queen of the dead. 

-Because of its combination of languages, which crosses theater, music and a high visuality. The latter highlights a story that seems to repeat itself over and over again.
