    The Crowne Plaza Santiago Hotel is located in one of the most important avenues of Santiago: Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins, also known as Alameda. It is between Baquedano and Universidad Católica subway stations, and steps from the Santiago Civic Center, which provides easy access to parks, museums and historic buildings that are considered national monuments.     PLATEA HEADQUARTER | Centro Cultural Gabriela Mistral (GAM)

    Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center is a cultural center whose aim is to provide Access to culture and educate audiences through artistic performances such as theater, dance, music, visual arts and popular art. GAM is a meeting place between audiences and creators, specialized in performing and musical arts, and where this new edition of Platea will take place. Here will be installed the registration and information point for presenters, and where the Symposium will be developed.

  • Espacio Diana

    PLATEA HEADQUARTER | Espacio Diana, night meeting point

    This place was initially part of the Sacramentinos Basilica‘s monastery and then the family entertainment center Juegos Diana, named in honor of the Roman goddess of hunting and the brand of the first German rifles used by Roberto Zúñiga Peñailillo, its founder, for the first target practice range he set up there in 1934. Declared a National Historical Monument in 1991, its story has now taken on a contemporary twist: the previously abandoned rear of the building has been turned into Espacio Diana, a cultural center that houses a 550m2 theater, a multipurpose salon, a restaurant – La Diana on the second floor – and a spacious terrace, which is currently being refurbished. This is the mightly meeting point for Platea 17, where attendees can have a good time, eat dinner and enjoy the programming of Tocatas Mil, the
    music cycle organized by the Festival.

    PLATEA HEADQUARTER | Lucila Restoran, lunch meeting point

    Rodrigo Méndez and Luis Ponce, owner of the renowned Da Noi trattoria and pasta factory in Barrio Italia, run Lucila De Nosotros, the GAM Cultural Center’s restaurant that pays tribute to center’s namesake, with Lucila de María del Perpetuo Socorro Godoy Alcayaga being the real name of the Nobel Prize winner. Its menu includes everything from traditional dishes like gnocchi, lasagna, fettuccini and ravioli to typical Chilean food. It also offers a selection of boutique wines and a variety of desserts.   • Taxis

    TRANSPORT | Taxis

    For the ground transportation you have two options, exclusive or shared service. A taxi cab takes 20 – 30 minutes from the airport to the hotel, and the price is approximately 30 USD ($20.000 chilean pesos). Shared buses takes 30-40 minutes or more, depending on the traffic ans passengers, and the price is approximately 10 USD ($7.000 chilean pesos). Here two companies that work in the airport: Transfer Delfos, reservas@transferdelfos.cl; Transvip, reservas@transvip.cl. Both have counter in the airport.

  • Buses

    TRANSPORT | Buses Platea
    To assure your assistance to the shows of the Santiago a Mil Festival, we will provide shuttle buses that will leave from the Hotel Crown Plaza. The daily information with the schedules for the buses will be sent to the emails of the participants and it will also be available at the accreditation point at GAM.

  • Tarjeta BIP

    To pay for your bus fare, you will need to use a Bip card, wich allows you tu pay only one fare, making a maximum of three changes. You can purchase and change your card at metro stations and at participating shops. The card costs 1.500 Chilean pesos and the minimum amount you can put on the card is 1.000 chilean pesos.   • Clima

    Santiago is in Chile’s central zone. Chile’s summer, wich is when Platea takes place, is usually dry and hot, with temperatures of up to 32°C90°F. We recommend to apply sun block, summer footwear, sunglasses, a hat and carring a bottle of water during the day.

    Money exchanges are open from Monday to Friday, although some are also open on weekends. Do not change money on the street, only inside banks or established money exchanges.

  • Emergencies


    If your identity documents are stolen, presenters and foreing artists should go to any Office Foreigners and the PDI International Police. The nearest office is located at José Manuel Infante 820, Providencia.

    In case of any healthcare emergency, you can choose between public or private healthcare. The main public hospital for adult emergencies in Santiago is the Hospital de Urgencia Asistencia Pública, located at Portugal 125 (Universidad Católica metro station). If you prefer private healthcare, you can go to the Santa María Clinic, located at Av. Santa María 500, Providencia.
