Normality cannot be defined without the aberrations that create its demons, nightmares, monsters, abnormalities and deviant figures. In life, you rarely meet these monsters, criminals, cripples and deviants because these personas non gratas are hidden away by society in institutions. The ‘monster, the deviant, the someone’ is hatefully free, because they do not care about the limits of others. Society is jealous of their freedom, because it cannot and does not want to include them. Society’s fear is much greater and its cowardice much deeper. That is why it simply eliminates them.

Frankenstein-project talks of what those who are considered different are allowed to do in a world that is defined by others. Painfully and realistically, it shows how an aversion to ‘normal’ people arises. Since its premiere in 2007, this play by the award-winning movie and theater director Mundruczó has toured throughout Europe and this will be its debut in Latin America.

Kornél Mundruczó is a movie and theater director. His movies have been premiered at the most prestigious film festivals in the world and have received numerous international awards. In 2003, he founded the Proton Cinema Ltd. production company with Viktória Petrányi, his co-scriptwriter and artistic collaborator since their university days. Since then, he has worked in theater, always transforming actors into his creative partners. In 2009, after working with practically the same people in his theater plays, he founded the Proton Theater.

The Proton Theater was founded in 2009 by the movie and theater director Kornél Mundruczó and the producer Dóra Büki, based on the director’s independent productions. As well as maintaining its artistic freedom to the maximum, its goal is to provide a professional work environment for its independent theater projects. Its plays are usually coproduced by large festivals and theaters in Europe and its nine plays, directed by Mundruczó and other members of the company, have been performed at more than 70 festivals worldwide.
