National and International Circulation
Fundación Teatro a Mil is an international institution whose task revolves around the circulation, promotion, production, and creation of Chilean and Latin American theatrical companies overseas. Its objective is to put national and Latin American theatre within the international arena while articulating and generating collaborative networks, and promoting the development of platforms in order to give feasibility to such cultural investment.

We are part of the world and we work relentlessly to open new spaces for Chilean and Latin-American scenic arts beyond our borders. For this purpose, we developed the programmers’ week PLATEA, in order to promote opportunities for production, broadcasting, and programming for the shows.

PLATEA is the platform of the International Festival Santiago a Mil that is aimed to promote interactions and contacts between independent professionals, public or private institutions related to the production, distribution, and programming of contemporary art shows.

Since the creation of the Southern Cone Performing Arts Fair in 2001, Programmers’ Week, which since 2014 is called PLATEA, is today a consolidated space that every year gathers around 200 programmers from all over the world interested in watching theater, dance and music shows. Through the organization of various activities, this initiative promotes and favors the encounter and exchange of experiences with the aim of creating optimum conditions to carry out the internationalization of artistic production in the region.

After years of experience, PLATEA has become the largest exhibition platform for contemporary performing arts in Chile.
